After a promising start to the week with respectable runs from both Forceful Appeal and Fair Value we are looking forward to four more potential runners for the rest of the week.
Sumani is due to run tomorrow in the skysports.com Handicap over 1m 4f at Kempton at 20.30. He ran a disappointing race at Folkestone last time and prior to that didn't stay the 2m at Kempton. However, we are hoping that a drop back in trip and a return to the track he won at three outings ago will bring out the best in him. Diamond Charlie is entered in the 15.15 Betfred 'bonus King Bingo' Handicap over 5f on Friday. He put pay to his chance at Epsom last time out when veering sharply to his right when leaving the stalls and was never in contention. He is a nice horse that has previously shown a lot of speed but can be quite free during his races. He is training well and we are hopeful for a good run. Notabadlad is due to run in the Calverts Carpets & Flooring Ltd Handicap 18.45 over 1m 2f at Nottingham on Friday. He has run disappointingly on his first two starts of the season but he should like the underfoot conditions so we are hoping that he puts his right foot forward this time around. Space Station has a variety of options, he has been entered in the Victoria Cup at Ascot on Saturday and also has two alternatives at Lingfield for their Derby Trial card. He has been a great horse for the yard over the years and owes us nothing. There are excuses for both of his starts this season when most recently not handling the soft conditions at Yarmouth. The son of Anabaa is going nicely at home but wouldn't want the ground too soft at either venue. Lastly, Fiducia is entered next Monday at Wolverhampton and at Windsor and it is yet to be decided where she takes her place. This two year old filly has finished third on both of her starts for Clear Height Stables and it will be interesting to see how she has improved for her previous outings.

Forceful Appeal ran a good race to finish fourth in the bluesquare.com Jubilee Handicap (London Mile Qualifier) at Kempton over 1m. It appeared that he didn't leave the stalls with his usual speed and was in mid division early on. Hayley Turner sat in behind the leaders in fifth position after two furlongs and was travelling comfortably. Coming around the home turn he was still very much on the bridle but the opportunity to quicken was short lived as the gaps closed. The son of Successful Appeal was forced to wait but stayed on well despite getting tired in the final yards of the race. It is expected that he will improve for the run.

There are five intended runners this week at Clear Height: Diamond Charlie, Christopher Chua, Notabadlad, Sottovoce and Northern Spy. All of which are ground dependent.
Diamond Charlie runs tomorrow at his home track at 14.15 over 5f. He has had a quiet time of it since finishing down the field last time at Lingfield. This has been his target since and he is a course and distance winner, which always counts for a lot at Epsom. We are hoping that stall nine will not be too much of a disadvantage and that he will put up a creditable performance. Christopher Chua runs at Brighton on Thursday at 16.35 in the Gatwickdiamondjobs.com Handicap over 5f. He ran very well on his third ever start and has subsequently received a mark of 69. It will be very interesting to how he runs first time in handicap company. Notabadlad is also due to run at Brighton. He is entered in the 17.40 Brightoncarbootsale.co.uk Handicap over 1m 2f. He finished down the field on his first run of the season at Lingfield when ridden by Hayley Turner but would have needed the run. We are hoping that with that run under his belt and the fact that he will enjoy the conditions he will put in a decent performance. It is yet to be decided which race Sottovoce takes her place in but it is likely that she will also be heading to Brighton on Thursday. This filly put up a career best performance two outings ago at Lingfield when narrowly denied by a short head. She is still a maiden but has gone close on a number of occasions and we are hoping for a good run this time around. Northern Spy is intended to run in the 18.50 at Brighton on Thursday over 7f and will be ridden by Seb Sanders. He ran a promising race last time at Doncaster for a long way, before fading tamely up the home straight. He seems to be well in himself at home and we are hoping for a good run. |

Fair Value ran very creditably yesterday afternoon at Kempton in the Bet And Watch At bluesquare.com Fillies' Handicap over 6f under Seb Sanders. Despite finishing fifth of six she only finished three and a half lengths behind the winner and travelled nicely for the majority of the race. The Compton Place filly broke well from stall three and went on to lead the field, however Silvester De Sousa had similar ideas and she was challenged for the lead for the first part of the race. She travelled very well into the straight and was asked to quicken two furlongs from home. Unfortunately the race was set up for a fast finisher and it appeared that she just didn't have enough left in the tank. She would have needed the run and will be at her best over the minimum trip.

Sottovoce ran yesterday at Wolverhampton over 7f under Jamie Spencer and managed a creditable fourth place. The Oratorio Filly broke well and was up with the pace early on. She was having to be ridden along coming into the straight, but stayed on and proved hard to pass before fading into fourth position.
Our first two year old runner of the season, Fiducia, is back in action on Thursday at Brighton. She runs in the 17.05 Maiden Stakes over 5f. Fiducia was given a nice introduction to racing at Lingfield on her latest outing when ridden by Hayley Turner and finished a promising third. We are hoping that she has learnt a lot from that run and should improve. ![]()

![]() Christopher Chua put in a good performance to finish second at Lingfield on his seasonal reappearance in a maiden over 5f. Ridden by apprentice David Kenny, the three year old gelding broke well and was soon travelling at the back of the field. Christopher Chua struggled to settle, pulling hard through the first part of the race. Approaching half way he appeared to be travelling much better and got a clear passage turning into the straight. David Kenny kicked for home and Christopher Chua stayed on up the straight to finish second by two and three quarter lengths. |
